The biopsy is a medical procedure performed on the inside of the throat to inspect the lump and get a sample. It full title of the procedure I had is panendoscopy with or without an incisional biopsy:
My consultant had spotted that I was a complete wuss. I was yawning and fidgeting through the exam any medical talk gets me feeling queezy like this.
He therefore recommended that for me the procedure that is normally done under a local anaesthetic be done under a general anaesthetic – thank you Mr Walker…
The procedure on the 19th December I was admitted as a day patient nurses check your name date or birth about 100 times and fill in masses of paperwork.
Meet discuss and sign consent forms with both the Consultant surgeon and the Anaesthetist and shortly after I was wheeled into the operating room. I remember nothing after about 8 in the count back from 10 and woke up groggy but in no pain in the recovery room. A couple of hours after I was leaving the hospital after the 3 key checks. Food can I eat , drink can I drink, and can I pass water.
On leaving I was given oromorphine and co codamol for pain and a laxative to help with constipation.
I was actually in little pain I took the cocodamol for the first 3 days or so the Oromorphine only once or twice.
I should have been worried about the constipation let’s put it this way operation Christmas diet not a good outcome. I was in pain and my best friend was the toilet. I will spare the details to two things that are important. Take the laxative as scheduled and get Dulcoleze to soften the stools. You can thank me later.
It was for this bowel related reason that my long suffering wife had to tell my daughters what was going on herself whilst I was laid up. The plan was to tell them when we knew fully what we were dealing with but questions were being asked about my absence.
